No.1 - Seeing things you've never thought of seeingMore often that not, the culture of Singapore has been largely influenced by the States due to the influences of media. However, I've always had the impression that the eras of Elvis Presley or the American cowboys are things of the past. I guess I might be wrong.. you get little surprises sometimes ((:

No.2 - Cars just move at a seemingly different paceAs soon as I hit the freeway (known as expressway in Singapore), my speedometer needle naturally passes the 100kmh mark. I wouldn't be surprise if I'm issued a ticket for driving any slower! (In fact, my roommate, who just received his licence then, was warned by the highway patrol for causing congestion because he's driving at 60kmh!)
No.3 - High-rise ain't everywhere; mountains are
A fact that took me a long, long while to accept is that most buildings are less than two-storey tall. This includes many major cities and towns.
When I first visited Stanford Shopping Center, I've imagined it to be a large building complex carrying renowned labels such as Tiffany & Co and Coach. Well, although the labels stay true, Stanford Shopping Center turns out to be a large acre of land filled with many one-storey store outlets. This is a far cry from Singapore, where we can find 25-storey HDB flats even in the suburbs!
No.4 - Ducks seem to be everywhere, but I don't see them on the menu!Just an observation.. perhaps we don't bear to eat what we see everyday? :P
